Event Description
Are you ready to take your garden to the next level and be successful in growing? Soil is key for sustaining healthy plants. Without proper nutrition from the soil, your plants are susceptible to disease and pests. In this workshop, Rob will provide in-depth knowledge about soil, including how to mix your own, use natural amendments, and analyze your soil. As a bonus, each participant will receive a 5 gallon bag of handmixed potting soil and a soil analysis sheet to take home to assess the health of your own garden.
Demo on making soil Understanding soil science The difference between potting soil and garden soil Organic and natural amendments What you need to know about N-P-K A healthy soil diet Sources of trace minerals plants need Detailed instructions on how to you use your soil analysis kit, how to take samples, how to fill out the form, where to send it and how to read your resultsChildren over the age of 12 are welcome to participate, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
*This class will need to be held outdoors/in the barn. Participants need to be prepared for seasonal weather elements. This workshop is non-refundable.
