Visited from out of state on the eve of New Year's Eve, the 30th. The wine was exceptional. The pouring staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.
Unfortunately, the older blonde lady in the front was very rude. We were told she was a "manager" yet treated her staff in a way unbecoming. I will order the wine but will not return with such a distasteful manager. It is unprofessional to treat staff in such a manner while sitting at a table playing on a computer. -
Visiting Barboursville Vinyards was a wonderful experience. The buidings and grounds were gorgeous, the wine was excellent, the food was delicious, and the service was great! Our server, Lisa, was so friendly and kind, and Chef Michael's pumpkin gnocchi were fantastic!

November 19, 2025 - What a beautiful autumn day for wine tasting at one of VA’s top wine 🍷producers!
Kudos to the Zonin family ( from Italy) and 2 specialists ( Viticulturist) Gabriel Rausse & Luca Paschina! Both experts deserve credit for the amazing success of Barboursville Vineyards. . .

Best Wines in 2025, 2021, 2009, 1998, 1997, 1988** Won 46 Gold Medals over 45 years
** Won 62 Silver Medals over 45 yearsEstablished in 1976, this 900 acre estate offers sweeping scenes of the valley adjacent to Shenandoah Mountains. The Zonian family spared no expense creating several tasting rooms, a fine dining restaurant, and several outside tasting areas!
My wife & I popped in on a crisp, sunny day. Not very crowded, on a Wednesday . . . a big advantage for retired folks like us! We noticed herb garden boxes , can’t beat fresh herbs 🌿 that highlight fine dining Italian cuisine 😃👍.
We tried the Library tasting room. Rectangular shape room , with lots of windows over-looking the vineyards protected by mountains outside edge of grape vines rows. Cathy our hostess provided a couple of menus, one for wine choices, one for food choices! She was helpful in answering our questions, and guiding us through our selections of wines .
I tried the flight of WHITE wines :
*Vermentino Reserve 2024
*Viognier Reserve 2024
*Sauvignon Blanc Reserve 2023
*Allegrante Rose 2023( I liked them , and would say the Vermentino was my favorite white wine. 😃👍)
My wife tried the RED Wines:
*Cab Franc Reserve 2023
*Nebbiolo Reserve 2022
*Petit Verdot Reserve 2019
*Merlot Reserve 2021( She shared hers , I liked the Nebbiolo as my favorite red, also purchased a bottle to take home! 😃👍)
We split a charcuterie board, mixed with cheeses & meats & bread $40 !
Excellent to pair with the wines , which satisfied our dinner appetites !Total we spent about $160 for our wine tasting , 1 bottle to take home!
I did see one bottle of rare wine over $2,000 ! (Maybe next time )
After our wine tasting we visited the Barboursville Ruins . . . Loads of VA history to share !

Took a weekend trip with my mom and stayed in the Blue Run Cottage. From the accommodations, tasting in the Library and dinner at Palladio, it was a top tier experience. The suite was so comfortable, clean, and we got to watch a beautiful fall sunset on the porch.
We can’t wait to visit again!

Matt was our tasting associate and he did a wonderful job. Got to taste wines I wouldn’t normally try and truthfully this winery has something for everyone. The Octagon isn’t on their tasting and comes with a tough price tag, but for a reason 😊 Will be back!

The wine was amazing, the individual who served us our wine tasting was fabulous. However, they were SEVERELY understaffed, and the other customer service was HORRENDOUS. We waited nearly an hour for their restaurant, only for them to then tell us we wouldn’t be admitted because they were “too busy” (too understaffed; their tables were only half full). They wasted our time, and lied to us. It took me 25 minutes to simply get a single glass of wine(within the HOUR wait to be DENIED to the restaurant). Completely unacceptable for wine this high class. At the end of the day, I’m relieved their restaurant was too busy, and that they denied us service, because if you read other reviews, their food tastes horrible, is overpriced, and typically served cold. Order their wines online, but don’t give them your in person patronage, they don’t deserve it.
