Love the view on the patio. Food is so-so. Feels like watered down east coast Mexican food. Still don't understand the whole "soft or fried" chimichunga opion on the menu .... Chimi's are by definition fried 😆. Staff is friendly.

I am super happy with this restaurant! I recently discovered it and had such a wonderful evening celebrating a friend’s birthday. The staff went above and beyond—they helped with the reservation, assisted in moving tables, and were incredibly accommodating when I brought in a gluten-free cake for my friend. The service was quick, the food was delicious, and they made sure my friend’s dietary needs were met with care. Overall, it was an awesome night, and I’m so excited to keep dining here. Grateful for such excellent customer care!

Lunch was great. It was quite, the staff were engaging and attentive. Food was delicious and very plentiful. Prices were quite reasonable. Parking was limited so if busy would be difficult.

The last restaurant we tried on our vacation to Lake Anna was the first restaurant that was actually good. El Gran Patron serves dishes that are more in the "chain" style than what you'd find from a hole in the wall, but everything was objectively good, from the appetizers to the drinks. We had tacos, enchiladas, and a large taco salad, to go with an appetizer of chori queso and churros to finish. All were absolutely delicious.
I don't often mention servers by name, but Miguel was delightful. He had our daughter laughing the whole time, had fresh drinks and chips coming out before what we had on the table was done, and was just an incredibly friendly and helpful man in general. The rest of the staff was similarly on top of things.
Excellent restaurant, the best in and around Lake Anna for my money, by far.

The service's atmosphere was very cold toward my family and guests. The service was slow, and the staff did not understand English or pretended not to. I ordered mini Chimichangas, which I love, and they are delicious. I cannot believe that the server allowed them to leave the kitchen. Shame on her! Being in the food industry for forty years, that would not happen on my watch. I couldn't eat them because the meat was burned and very dry, with very little sauce. Such a waste of food. I sent it back and did not reorder, and she did not take it off the bill.

Love going to El Gran Patron. Food and service are amazing. The view of Lake Anna is exceptional. We have hosted several events there for 80 to 100 people, and they don't miss a beat. It's a great place to visit.

I had fried tilapia I named him Jeremy🐳🐳🐳🐟🐠 but he was one ugly tilapia🤔😚 He tasted very good though.🤑🤑🤑 our waitress was great service. 👍 🍖🍗there was a beautiful 😍 🤩 👌 location. We came on a 🚢boat 🚢 😎 Jeremy was delicious and I made sure to eat no bones 🦴🦴🦴 THANK YOU EL GRAN PATRON 🔋🇲🇽🇺🇲🔋🥹🕴🌹🌹

Absolutely incredible experience! This Mexican restaurant quickly became one of my favorites. The fajitas came out sizzling and full of flavor, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. The burritos were hearty, packed with fresh ingredients, and every bite was delicious. The enchiladas were rich, cheesy, and full of authentic taste. Everything we ordered tasted homemade and authentic, with just the right amount of spice. On top of that, the service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere made the meal even better. If you’re looking for outstanding Mexican food, this place is a must visit

The staff need help. The waitress what i mean. Chill spot. Food needs a little boost. Maybe vour group was towards tail end of a busy night.

We LOVE El Gran Patrón! Come here multiple times a year every year when on vacation we’re here almost every day! Staff is so sweet and accommodating great drinks and better food!

All I have to say is WOW! We went with a large group (14 people) and our service was immaculate! We enjoyed everything about our dinner! The drinks were fantastic, the food was fantastic, the service was fantastic! We got everything enchiladas, fajitas, quesadillas, kids meal, and burritos. Everything we ordered was flat out great! We got margaritas, mixed drinks and beers, all were great and made just right. If you are the mood for fresh authentic Mexican this is the spot to go! The views from the outside dining were great! Fats pace place but relaxing to enjoy a meal.

I was looking forward to trying out this place, but was somewhat disappointed with the experience. We went on a Thursday night, to avoid the busy weekend. After being seated we waited a good ten minutes for the waitress to show up with menus. Note that the place was not very busy and some waiters were hustling to serve those seated on the deck but not our waitress. Our food was pretty good - in my 40 year search for the best chile relleno theirs actually scores in the top 20. When it was time to leave, our waitress was nowhere to be found. I finally had to get up and find the manager to get our check. Also the parking situation is horrible - a very limited amount of spaces. We had to park out beyond the site entrance and walk more than 100 yards to the restaurant.
