Description
Our passion for rural life, agriculture and our love of wine resulted in the planting of our first five acre vineyard and Elk Island Winery, which opened in 2012.
Our vineyard is planted in Norton, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Albariño and small plantings of other varietals.

We enjoyed a long overdue visit to Elk Island. Got to not only enjoy their delicious wines but spend time talking with Daniel and the owners Paul and SueAnne. Such a treat. Highly recommend!

Elk Island is a partially converted house. Perhaps it's best to say some is using their house for a winery. The wine was good and the people helpful. The reason for 4 stars was the ambiance. It wasn't bad but with so many other wineries having nicer settings the competition is stiff. For us it was not worth the 55-minute drive, but we would certainly stop in if we were passing by. If I'm going to drive that far then I'm going to pick a nicer winery. Setting matters.

We went for a Sunday afternoon date and had a great time. Daniel and the staff were fantastic, charming, and attentive. The wines were amazing -- I'm a wine snob who lived in NAPA for 10 yrs and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wines. We especially liked the norton, chambourcin, merlot, and petit verdot. My husband appreciated the oaked chardonnay as well as the un-oaked. The winery is tucked away and the tasting room is unassuming and small. Don't judge a book by its cover-- there are nice people and fantastic wines inside!
