Description

Grayhaven Winery invites you to slow down, linger, and truly experience Virginia wine—rooted in history, family, and place. As one of Virginia’s oldest commercial vineyards, Grayhaven blends three generations of winemaking with a warm, unpretentious atmosphere where guests are welcomed like old friends.

Enjoy seated wine tastings indoors or al fresco, surrounded by lush gardens, koi ponds, shaded groves, open lawns, and vineyard views—or inside a charm-filled tasting room set in a restored 1940s barn. Pair your wine with artisan cheese, charcuterie, and mezze boards from Shesh Besh, or bring your own picnic and settle in for an afternoon that unfolds at your pace.

Family-friendly, dog-friendly, and non-drinker friendly, Grayhaven is as much about connection as it is about wine. The wines reflect the Piedmont terroir of central Virginia, while the culture reflects a unique blend of Virginia roots and South African heritage—creating a winery experience that feels personal, inclusive, and genuinely joyful.

We took my son and daughter-in-law to Grayhaven today, for the last day of their Christmas visit. They LOVED everything about it (I knew they would!). She enjoyed the mulled wine, his favorite was the Trekker (I might have this name wrong, I’m not good at this,). It was cozy and warm inside, and so rustic and pretty! Deon is always so welcoming and kind, he made sure they felt right at home. Bonus points for being dog friendly, and for having some pretty awesome dogs on site! I know this will be a place they’ll want to revisit every time they come home!

Always the best wines from their own vineyard and from South Africa. The owners are great. Their special events are always fun.

Always a great experience, the owner is a great host. The wine selection and charcuterie rival any in wineries in the area.

I only had their pinotage wine, which was excellent, but I’m writing this as a review of their haunted trail.

It was a BLAST!! I haven’t had so much fun in a haunted event since I lived in New Orleans. The cast was absolutely fantastic and the interactions were a lot of fun. For $20 a head, it’s a steal.

Thank y’all for a great way to end my favorite season as we all await the horrific manifestation of Christmas commercialism: Mariah Carey.

The festival this year was a huge disappointment. Got there at 1. There was maybe 30 minutes of music before the band left. The ONE food truck was out of nearly everything on the menu. There was nothing for people that brought their kids to do. Previous years had music all day, fun activities for the little ones, and a wide variety of food trucks. Hopefully they do better next year.

The Festival on Sept.28 gave no helpful info on their website. We drove there and were told that tkts were $72 per person and no food included-tastings ONLY! All 6 of us left and spent the afternoon at a nearby winery and celebrated a birthday! If Grayhaven website gives such inadequate information, they deserve to lose guests!
