I want to give a shout-out to Kip Hall. My son arranged a Father’s Day trip with Kip last week, and it couldn’t have been more enjoyable. Not only did my son and I both achieve the Lake Anna Grand Slam that we set out to accomplish, my son caught his PB bass, and we went home with a cooler-full of crappie. Kip couldn’t have been more generous and patient. I think it’s safe to say that I learned more on this trip than I have in the 15 years we’ve been going to Lake Anna. Thanks Kip for such a memorable day!

I'm writing about a trip a couple months ago (I'm slow) and, so it wasn't Chris, he was unavailable and referred me to his partner Kip. And now my 13yo thinks I'm a total rock star. Thanks you guys!

Best Christmas gift ever! We use Mccotters every year and Captain Chris never disappoints. A true expert in navigating Lake Anna for fishing largemouth and striper.

Fantastic! My father in law came down from
Pennsylvania wanting to target snakehead and through Mr McCotter we were able to throw the perfect bait in the perfect spot and he caught a 32” snakehead. Thank you! -
Got in on a last-minute cancellation on Sunday morning, 8/20/2023. Went with 3 teen boys who were not familiar with fishing, but our guide was patient and very skilled. We didn't have to go far out from the marina to start landing about 12 big largemouth, a couple stripers, a 14-inch perch and many other fish. Very accommodating and professional, will be back next time we are in town.

I rarely ever write a bad review but when I was recently blocked for making a simple comment of “I tried that” on a post someone said use Mccotter for locating fish, it was uncalled for and very unprofessional. I used them to try and learn a little of the lake and was not at all impressed. Half the time was spent on the cell chatting with tournament fishing friends that were fishing the next day. I was kept from learning anything about the lake. Not a good attitude or character of a person.

I can’t say enough about Chris and McCotters guide service! Chris is a true outdoorsman with vast knowledge of lake Anna. With being an avid tournament angler myself, Chris open my eyes to some different techniques of fishing lake Anna. Chris helped me shorten the learning curve on how fish move and set up on lake Anna. Chris’s communication skills are top notch. He was able to answer every single question that I had whether it be bottom composition or fish, migration patterns. His boat and equipment were well-kept and maintained not to mention the amount of room on his boat. I highly recommend McCotters guide service to anyone that wants to learn more about Lake Anna or just have a great fishing trip!

I chartered two trips with Howard Smith this past summer. On each trip I took my 15 year old son and some of his friends. Our goal was to catch Lake Anna Stripers and learn more about fishing the lake. Not only will Howard put you on the fish but he is an excellent and patient guide. Fantastic with the the teens in sharing his knowledge and showing them how to catch fish. As a bonus, Howard is very knowledgeable about Lake Anna, all the properties and interesting sites to see. He took his time and taught us how he uses his Hummingbird fish finder/sonar to locate the fish and showed us how to interpret what was on the screen. I was so impressed that after the second trip I purchased a Hummingbird system just like his for my boat. If you book a trip with Howard Smith you will not be disappointed.
