Description
On this site during the battle of Trevilian Station, General Matthew C. Butler’s Confederate South Carolinians built an L-shaped defensive line along the Virginia Central Railroad to block Union General Philp H. Sheridan’s route to Gordonsville. The apex of this line became known as the Bloody Angle during the heavy fighting that occurred at this site in 1864.
